System architecture : Layman’s version

We all use computers and access internet and use various applications for personal and professional use. The data which is maintained in some remote corner of the world can be accessed by people sitting in other corner of the world. The applications which are used by organisations or our email are run on three tier model which is commonly termed as system architecture in IT world. Databases are maintained in a very secure environment and maintained by IT companies who specialize in this domain. The data is accessed by the user through a web server which ensures faster services. The main idea behind using web server is that it ensures wide and deep penetration of network and is almost free as compared to a private network. At the other end of the web server, user friendly interface is in the form of browser and url addresses for accessing various databases. Data security, indexing and segregation is done on both ends of web server to ensure that original data is not tempered with and user also gets the relevant data from database. System architecture is essentially is three tier structure at the moment and is innovating continuously to reduce the costs involved, improve upon data security and have more satisfaction among users. Cloud computing is an example of this innovation which has started and has given altogether new dimensions to system architecture
